My Story
Mutesi’s father died of AIDS in 2006 and her mother is HIV-positive. After discovering that Mutesi’s father had died of AIDS, Mutesi and her mother were scorned by their family and pressured to leave their home district of Iganga.
After settling in Busia, Mutesi’s mother began earning a small living by selling second-hand clothing and washing laundry for neighbors. Mutesi is in Kindergarten and spends most of her time playing around her home and at New Hope.
