My Story
Dorcus’ father died of AIDS before she was old enough to recognize him. Although her mother is still alive, she is HIV-positive and often very sickly. When she is able to work, Dorcus’ mother earns less than $2 per day serving food in a local restaurant.
When Dorcus lived with her mom in the Kisenyia slums of Busia. She only ate once a day and could not attend school regularly due to lack of funds.
Dorcus moved to New Hope in May 2008, and dreams of finishing school and becoming a lawyer.
