My Story

Amina lost her mother to HIV/AIDS in 2007 and her father is often bedridden with the disease.  When he is not incapacitated, Amina’s father earns less than $1 per day selling fried cassava chips on the street.  Before coming to New Hope, Amina was not going to school, instead spending most days working as a babysitter for her step-sister.  Due to her father’s inability to work consistently, Amina often had to rely on neighbors for food and, on good days, ate only supper.

Amina is now under the full care of New Hope.
