Meet Akello

My Story

Akello’s mother died of AIDS  before Akello was old enough to recognize her.  After Akello’s father remarried, her grandparents immediately brought Akello under their care for fear that she would be abused by the stepmother.

However, Akello’s grandparents make less than 50 cents a day as peasant farmers and take care of seven children in total.  Akello lives in the Kisenyi slums of Busia, sleeps in  a small, grass-thatched hut, and eats only twice a day.

New Hope currently provides educational supplies and basic medical fees for Akello.  With your help we can provide Akello with all her nutritional, medical and educational needs and greatly improve her quality of life.   To sponsor Akello, please click the “subscribe” button below.
